No vampires in the hot sun.
It’s Florida’s playground for fun.
The nights are their chosen den.
Come and frolic in their playpen.
THE DEAD GAME
by Susanne Leist
Snow is falling on the trees,
hanging tight to the cold leaves.
A winter wonderland in the south.
I gaze ahead and open my mouth.
A bitter taste fills my heart & soul
as I plunge into the rabbit hole.
THE DEAD GAME
Take cover.
End House holds evil.
Within the walls.
Hidden in the dark basement.
Windows shatter.
Creatures attack.
No one is safe from The Dead.
THE DEAD GAME by Susanne Leist
The birds sense evil.
They fly away.
Time for us to flee.
THE DEAD take no prisoners.

Her cards point to death
in Oasis, Florida.
A full moon brings evil to the small town.
Dead bodies on the beach.
End House stands deserted,
waiting for visitors.
Evil can sparkle.
It can deceive and misdirect.
Be careful.

The light beckons to me,
Calls from deep in the sea.
I’m tempted you can see.
I do want to be free.
I step inside,
Nowhere to hide.
The walls move in.
It’s dark as sin.
A door opens right before me
To a sky as clear as can be.
People walk the streets.
Music throbs and beats.
It’s a town that resembles mine
With picturesque streets looking fine.
My friend stops to wave and walks to me.
I turn my gaze to the sand and sea.
How can this be?
This town can’t be.
A copy of my town.
I cannot help but frown.
As friends join the first,
My mind threatens to burst.
I can’t handle another dream.
It’s not as nice as it may seem.
My town has deadly powers buried inside
And now has an evil twin to join its side.
I cannot handle this anymore.
I had more than enough blood and gore.
The story continues in book two.

Trees and bushes fill the conservatory.
Wolf wants to show us what’s hidden inside.
Linda follows him into the bushes.
Her scream curdles my blood.
We run to her to find cages of snakes.
Their tongues slipping in and out of the holes.
Hungry for their next meal.
The trees draw closer to our group.
Lifting up their massive roots to take chase.
Time to leave this sorry example of the macabre.
The Dead like their games a little too much for comfort.
THE DEAD GAME
HORROR BY THE SEA
We have found the exit from this house.
We’ll sneak out as quiet as a mouse.
The owner must not know we’re gone.
He’ll chase us to death and beyond.
We’ll crawl down by the rocks and sea.
Make our way back in time for tea.
End House won’t hold us anymore.
We’ve seen enough horror and gore.
