A BLUE MIDNIGHT

A midnight so dark and blue.
It’s coming for me and you.
The tides are rising to a new height,
While fighting the shore with all their might.

The clear skies are dark blue.
The clouds are far and few.
The darkness brings us shadows and fears,
And people running away in tears.

I’ve heard about The Dead.
They fill my heart with dread.
It’s time to hide from death.
No time to take a breath.

++ take a tropical tour and follow for more ++

Oasis offers paradise.

Palm trees swaying.

Bodies lying in the hot sun,

Baking to their hearts’ content.

Cool water to soothe their flesh.

The night brings trade winds,

Accompanied by dark shadows.

Visitors to the Florida town,

All ready to play their nightly games.

A game for one or two?

It’s all up to you.

FALLING

The staircase gives way.

Linda slides into its grasp.

A tunnel envelopes her.

Hands reach out for her.

Her cries fill the dark void.

“Will I reach the bottom?

Is there even a bottom?”

Her jumbled thoughts swirl around.

She hears a voice yell out,

“Stop!”

The tunnel dissolves.

The stairs return.

Todd waits on the top step.

Linda runs down the staircase

And makes it to the front door.

But the door knob won’t budge.

“Open!”

The door opens

At Todd’s command.

The house pushes Linda

and her friends out the door.

It slams shut behind them.

Afraid to face a new and more powerful Todd,

Linda scrambles to her feet

and races away from End House.

ATTACK OF NATURE

Lightning hits the spot.

Thunder rumbles by.

Clouds flee in horror.

Sky turns black in fear.

End House is under attack.

Nature has its final say.

KILL ME

A walk through the woods

on a sunny afternoon.

The sun soon retreats

to be replaced by dark shadows.

Sighs fill the silence.

The tall trees lift their roots.

Trunks become faces,

branches reaching arms.

Shivering leaves fall in fear.

The giants move forward.

Just kill me now.

PARADISE LOST

The light grows too dim.

But I can see him.

He follows close behind.

But me he will not find.

I will hide in the tree.

He’ll think I’m out to sea.

The sun is setting.

Me, he’s not getting.

He’ll snatch another mortal.

Before he returns to his portal.

To his hole in the ground.

That’s where he will be found.

With his kind he will play

Until dawn the next day.

PRAY FOR US

Like a cold witches’ brew.
An Oasis for all.
Now a hell for the few,
Who remain to tell all.
Warm winds turn cold
As all become prey.
The young and old.
For them we must pray.
Hell hath no fury
Like a demon scorned.
There is no jury
For a small town mourned.
Who’ll save Oasis
From ‘The Dead’ demons?
Who will now face us,
More dead or demons?
Pray for us.
We are alone
Come save us.
We must atone.

RED FLOWS

Red flows freely.

From the ocean.

Through the town.

Into windows.

Up the stairs.

Into your beds.

It sucks dry.

The innocent.

The sleeping.

It takes all.

For its own.

For its army.

An army from hell.

TO HELL AND BACK

  1.

The night holds you so tight.

You must not fear or fight.

    You belong to us now.

I say this with a bow.

You will follow us to hell.

As we ring the nightly bell.

    Our servants you will be.

    You’ll never be set free.

    The town belongs to us.

    No reason for a fuss.

The Dead are here to stay.

    Come with us and play.

THE DEAD GAME by Susanne Leist

Like thorns on a rose,

the town of Oasis appears

peaceful during the day.

But at night,

its thorn are revealed.

The Dead roam

the streets of town.

Follow them

to their wild parties.

But be careful

you don’t become one

of the lifeless bodies

found on the beach

come morning light.
