I walk alone at night
when the moon is full height.
The sky black as tar,
but I won’t walk far.
I search for the shadow
on the road so narrow.
I want to see who he’s become,
The Dead leader, the evil one.
PREY FOR THE DEAD
by Susanne Leist
Her cards point to death
in Oasis, Florida.
A full moon brings evil to the small town.
Dead bodies on the beach.
End House stands deserted,
waiting for visitors.
Evil can sparkle.
It can deceive and misdirect.
Be careful.
THE DEAD GAME SERIES BY SUSANNE LEIST
Welcome to the land of The Dead.
The Dead are my friends.
I feast on their victims.
It’s not easy to be a bird of prey.
THE DEAD GAME
The story continues in PREY FOR THE DEAD.
I have a gift for you.
For you and no one else.
It comes in a black bottle.
Elaborate script on the front.
Please accept my gift.
Close your eyes.
And open your mouth.
Who sits on my shelf
each night?
Who casts shadows
on my bedroom wall?
I move closer.
I must see what it is.
The head moves.
Its hood falls back.
A doll’s face appears.
A yellow glow
in the darkness.
Red eyes turn to me.
Burning a hot hole
right through me.
His hand reaches for me.
He wants me for The Dead.
I won’t yield to his call.
He wants me in his bed.
I’m surrounded by his kind.
Their cries echo in the night.
He swoops closer from the sky.
Oh, what a beautiful sight.
He’s a creature of the night.
I’m crazy to want him so.
I can’t resist his sad face.
He is not a friend but a foe.
THE DEAD GAME
Burn baby burn.
Your blood runs hot.
Oozing down the stem.
Dripping to the ground.
Leaving mounds of red.
Where buds will spring up.
And take their rightful place.
In the world of the nonliving,
They will fight for him.
The evil one.
The Dead one.

Darkness brings a pall to town.
I turn around with a frown.
Soft footsteps echo down the street,
I know whom I’m destined to meet.
Has everyone gone to hide,
Leaving me to fend off his pride?
I should have listened to my heart’s song,
Listened to reason and right from wrong.
There is nowhere to run or hide.
I will stand firm against the tide.
I sit unprotected in his path.
No one is safe from his evil wrath.
His lips descend slowly to make me his.
I have no power to escape from this.
Forever caught in a storm of desire,
His fire brings me higher and higher.
THE DEAD GAME
TUG***
I walk in the dark woods.
Soft cries fill my ears.
The same cries of my nightmares.
I know what waits for me in the forest.
Goosebumps riddle my chilled flesh.
The evil one calls to me.
My heart beats to his drum.
He wants me to join him.
He plays for keeps.
I will go now
and face the devil.
