It comes to all.
To all who sleep.
To all who lie awake.
It comes on soft wings.
It comes in silence.
I lie and wait.
In trepidation.
In fear.
For it.
WHO BELIEVES IN MAGIC?

Who believes in magic?
Fairies?
Unicorns?
They are part of our dreams.
Here’s to fairy dust, wizards, and vampires.
Witches, demons, and monsters.
Without them,
there would be no dreams
or nightmares.
THE EMPTY STAIRCASE
I close my eyes to sleep,
and what do I see?
The staircase from my past.
The stairs from my
elementary school.
I can hear the children’s voices
as they climb the stairs to classes.
I hear their shouts as they descend
to the basement for lunch.
I can’t see their faces.
I only hear their voices.
The staircase waits for me.
If I return,
will my dream go away?
I drift back to sleep and
dream of the empty staircase.
THEY DO EXIST
Of course, they do.
Who else keeps you awake at night?
Who haunts your nightmares?
Your mother-in-law?
No.
It’s The Dead.
They walk the streets of Oasis.
They take their victims with stealth and finesse.
Find them in THE DEAD GAME.
They return in PREY FOR THE DEAD.
