ENDLESS NIGHT

Moonlit Forest

‘Walk with me through the moonlit forest.
Let our feet graze the tips of the grass,
held aloft by our love and passion.

Follow me through the endless night
to a land where no man walks,
and love has no bounds or shackles.

We will be free to display our passion,
without retribution from humanity.
Come with me, my ice princess.

Step away from the burning plains,
where the heat burns your soles,
and love is hampered by humanity.’

He extends his hand,
his lips never uttering a sound,
his meaning as clear as can be.

The other has followed us to the clearing,
his eyes burning red with passion,
a bright fire following in his footsteps.

He scorches a trail through the grass,
melting his enemy’s cold trail.
They face each other.

Hot and cold from opposite poles,
dueling until the end of time.
Our games have just begun.

THE DEAD GAME SERIES

THE CRIMSON REFLECTION

Source:travel-story

The sky dips into its bag of tricks

to bring forth a full moon,

as its crimson reflection

mars the ocean’s smooth surface.

From the water’s murky depths,

dark creatures rise this night.

Onto our crisp white shores, they walk,

leaving bloody footprints in the sand,

painting our town crimson,

beneath the blood-red moon.

A HORROR STORY

We stand alone in this bleak hall.

There won’t be dancing at this ball.

Time to leave this creepy place.

We must quicken our slow pace.

But since this is a horror story,

We will not be leaving with glory.

THE DEAD GAME SERIES

AT THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT

Sunset brings shadows with the night,

Birds of prey springing into flight.

As a hue of red paints the night air,

A high-pitched howl sounds too near.

Residents hide behind locked doors,

As trails of blood seep through the floors.

The mansion rumbles with laughter,

Loud music reaches each rafter.

Gargoyles watch as quiet as a mouse,

As limousines line a path to the house.

At the harsh stroke of midnight,

Dancers freeze in the moonlight.

SNOWBOUND

Snowbound at the inn,

no one can get in,

besides the cursed one

who has already won,

by picking off bodies,

one by one.

SHADOWS FILL MY ROOM

Shadows fill my room.

I’m going to swoon.

It looks like a woman.

But not at all human.

The town is scary.

It’s getting hairy.

Florida isn’t all fun.

Not a walk in the hot sun.

HEAR THEM ROAR

Prey Art Print By Daniel Taylor

Tigers pace in their cages,

Waiting to be set free.

Animals fill the basement,

An awful sight to see.

Leashes jangle against bars.

Metal against metal rings loud.

As the gates slowly lift open,

Pointy teeth glisten without sound.

This cannot be happening.

This cannot be so.

No way are there tigers

In the basement below.

I LOVE THIS REVIEW!

The Dead At Heart

by Susanne Leist

I have read the first two books in the Dead Games Series and was eager to continue the story. “Dead at Heart” takes off with plenty of action where two ended. Shana is involved with a powerful vampire William but doesn’t completely trust him. I enjoyed the relationship between Linda, her best friend, and another powerful vampire, Gregg. But what kept this a page-turning book was the battle not only in the vampire community but also in Shana’s heart. While she loves William, she appears to have feelings for the sheriff Sam still. That sets up for an intriguing love triangle.  I wasn’t sure who Shana would end up with until it happened. I love the friendship between the women and how they have each other’s backs no matter what. The undercurrent in the vampire community made me wonder who the good side was and kept me guessing until the end. I walked the streets of Quebec with the characters and now have added it to a place I’d like to see. Plus, I became of fan of the other entities that showed up. This is an exciting addition to the series, with a satisfying conclusion. If you enjoy vampire books with some romance mixed in, this is for you. Five-Stars!
