#RRBC 30-DAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE DAY 18

ahumblemagic:

American Book Center, Amsterdam

I wrote this poem a few years ago, showing my passion for reading. Walking into a bookshop, I feel like a child experiencing a candy store for the first time. The bright lights, the quiet murmurs of people shuffling through pages, the walls of bookshelves filled with colorful titles, and the smell of new books are unique and easily recognized by booklovers.

PARADISE

To some,

paradise has beaches and sun.

To others,

it might have snow and trails.

But to me,

paradise is a new book.

Inside,

there are worlds to explore and people to meet.

Open a book,

and live a life like no other.

The only thing that can beat the joy of reading a new book is writing one. After completing my first book, I wrote this ode to book writing.

Nothing can be as fine
as the dear book of mine.
It might not be sold in a big bookstore,
but you will not find one to offer more.
It was created with much love and hope,
even though it wasn’t blessed by a Pope.
It has my blood, sweat, and tears.
Might raise many of your fears.
It has action, murder, and romance.
It can even do a little dance.
Please try it, and you’ll see
it has the best of me.

I have it printed on my Amazon book pages to remind me of the joy of writing despite the endless work and slow-as-snail rewards.

      Hi Susanne,
Thanks for sharing your poetry. Maybe you should write more and develop your gift.

I used poetry as an exercise for writing. I would take pictures from Tumblr and write poems about them. I stopped when Covid struck, but I’m hoping to write again.

Thank you. I love writing poetry, and I have hundreds on Authors’ Den. When I should be writing my book, I play with poetry.

We should set the second one to music, Susanne. It could become the RRBC theme song!

Hi, Susanne. Your poems certainly express the joy of a bookstore and the satisfaction of writing. Keep writing poetry! You might be able to publish a book of your poems when you have enough.

    Blessings!

Thanks, Patty. To publish my poems, I must learn much more about poetry, and I’m still learning how to write books. And since I love researching, poetry can be my next adventure.

Thank you so much. I love writing poetry. For some reason, I find it easier to write than prose.
