For the blog challenge, I will begin reliving my vacations before Covid. I’m not yet ready to travel on a plane, even with a mask. Today, I’m revisiting the Dominican Republic, where I vacationed with my daughter, Ashley, my son-in-law, Chaim, and my husband, Lee, at an exclusive resort.

This is the four of us going for our first meal. The resort was spread apart with many buildings and individual condos. We rented a small house with a backyard and pool. We had to move twice since there were problems with the condos, one lost water, and the second flooded from the rain. Each time, they gave us a more extensive and prettier house.

The grounds were beautiful and so extensive we used golf carts to drive around. Each section had its own pool, and we tried them all.

Palm trees were everywhere. We chose this exclusive resort because it offered kosher meals, which we didn’t realize at first that we paid for on top of everyone else’s fees.

This is the pool in the kosher section, which is the smallest one, but always deserted.

The pool in our last condo was the biggest and I was able to do laps.

The views were spectacular. I miss the beaches and pools and definitely need a vacation.
Susanne, these photos are gorgeous, and you look so happy! What peaceful and renewing surroundings. I’ve never been to a southern island other than Bermuda. How wonderful that you have such joyous memories – hope you get to go again soon!

Hi Susanne–I have never been to the Dominican (as the kids in the schools I go to call it), but that’s the country that produces so many baseball players, such as two of my favorites, David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez. My daughter and her husband went there a few years ago for a destination wedding. The water looks so beautiful and calm. I went to Jamaica about twenty-five years ago with a group of women. We had a lot of fun. At this point in time, since I’ve had a bout with squamous cell carcinoma on my face, I’m hiding from the sun for the rest of my life, so bring on the photos of the tropics! I’ll live vicariously through them! (P.S., I am enjoying your blogs so much!)

Thank you so much, Wanda. I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying my flashbacks. I’ll share my Jamaican vacation, but the resort was much prettier and bigger in the Dominican. And the Dominicans were friendlier.

I liked it better than Jamaica, but I like resorts in Mexico better.

Thank you for taking me to the tropics for a few minutes, Susanne. I hadn’t heard of a kosher pool, but there is so much about other cultures that I don’t know. It’s nice to learn about each other.

I miss the tropics. The pool wasn’t kosher, but the kosher food was served in the section of the resort that had this pool. Only food can be kosher. Sorry for the confusion.

I’m having fun going through my albums, even though it takes time to take pictures of my photos and then download them from my phone to my computer.

What a gorgeous place, Susanne! Ashley is beautiful, like her mother. How nice that when things went wrong with your condos, they upgraded you each time. I call that favor. I like that private pool in the last one you stayed in. So glad you have these memories and photos! Thanks for sharing them with us!
Blessings!
