Why do we love vampire books?
Is it the blood and gore or hot romance?
I read them because no one is dead forever.
Even after vanquished, a vampire can return.
If only life worked this way.
PREY FOR THE DEAD
Hell hath no fury like a vampire’s wrath.
They plow down whoever is in their path.
We must kill the creatures of hell,
Then we’ll have a story to tell
Of how we survived an apocalypse.
A sad but true story from our own lips.
THE DEAD GAME SERIES
We have until
the morning light
to make it right.
THE DEAD GAME
Stay away from here.
Death I cannot bear.
I’m telling a horror tale
with each wag of my fine tail.
Oasis it is not.
More of a horror spot.
Tourists disappear
into the thin air.
One day they’re right here.
Next day they’re nowhere.

Into the tunnel we are thrown.
Been more careful if I had known.
We’re falling down a dark abyss.
Please someone give us an assist.
We’re falling too hard and fast.
This nightmare better not last.
Our time has come to an end
As we fly around the bend.
The Dead are waiting for us below.
I can hear them yelling out hello.
We land with a thump and a bang.
I’m now facing a big fat fang.
THE DEAD GAME
Darkness brings a pall to the streets.
A dread that can be felt by all.
It follows me with soft footsteps.
Growing closer behind me with each step.
I should have listened to my heart’s song.
Listened to reason and right from wrong.
I’m now trapped in this horror of despair.
Waiting for death to take me in his arms.
The shadows are growing larger.
Surrounding me from all sides.
There’s nowhere to run or hide.
I will stand strong against the tide.
The coldness wraps around me.
My hair drips icicles down my neck.
I shiver in dread of my future.
My future as queen of The Dead.
A nip in the air.
A chill in my bones.
The Dead will be here
And in our own homes.
Palm trees will shiver.
The ground will quake
Along the river
And by the lake.
Take me far away
From this creepy place.
I refuse to stay
And see his pale face.
THE DEAD GAME
Brutal winds follow close on my heels.
Thunder and lightning join the crusade.
Fluorescent lights paint the night sky
In rings of orange, yellow, and red.
A vortex of horror in unending circles
Makes its way to the town of Oasis.
I wait with a sword in hand,
Secure in the knowledge that Wolf won’t win.
The Watchers have joined the battle.
I can see them on the hill beyond.
Their raincoats flap in the wind,
Revealing their hidden weapons.
We protect Linda from the devil,
Standing firm in the fighting winds.
The Father clutches his bible of spells
To help cast the evil from this town.
Humans, vampires, and human vampires
Have come together as one.
The last battle on this earthly planet
Will determine the fate of us all.
Linda holds onto her friends,
Huddled together in the raging winds.
Will she choose wisely?
Will she choose me above The Dead?
The time has come for the showdown.
Time has slowed to a stop.
We raise our weapons above our heads
As we wait for evil to make its final appearance.
Wolf sports a new body.
I still recognize his deadly soul.
A new package for an old one
Does not change the battle to be won.
Our games have just begun.

Into the woods, I flee,
yearning to be set free.
I don’t know which way to go.
I turn around, to and fro.
A light glimmers between the trees.
I peek between the hanging leaves.
I see no one on the lit path.
I can do the simple math.
It’s them against me.
I’ll never be free.
THE DEAD GAME
by LUMA
A red glow lights the street,
falling right at our feet.
We pound the pavements in fright,
fleeing the force of the night.
Vibrations hit the ground
from thunder all around.
The street light sways and groans
as we head for our homes.
Who will save us from these creatures
that torment and won’t release us?
I can see the road ahead.
I hope it leads to my bed.
I can’t take another night
of this endless, losing fight.
