WAITING FOR YOU

Haunted House

Welcome to End House.

All may enter.

The house is dark,

but we are waiting for you.

Follow the candles down the dark

hallway and take the stairs to the basement.

Surprises are in store for you.

Would you like some wild animals or

a pit into nothingness?

We have that and much more.

OPEN THE DOOR

An open door invites.
An open door beckons to visitors.
Who can resist an open door?
Who doesn’t want to take a peek inside?
What treasures might be hidden on the other side?
Or what evil might be lying in wait for us?
Open the door and find out.
I know you want to.

An open door invites.
An open door beckons.
Who can resist it?
Who doesn’t want to take a peek?
What treasures might be hidden on the other side?
Or what evil might be lying in wait for us?
Open the door and find out.
I know you want to.

A NIGHT AT END HOUSE

Candles fill the night.

Candles light the way.

Down the long corridor.

Past leering portraits.

Peeling wallpaper.

A door to the basement.

Slippery stairs.

One hanging lightbulb.

Door locks.

Basement fills with water.

Pointy traps fall from the ceiling.

Followed by circular saws.

A nightmare?

No.

A night at End House in Oasis.

THE GATES

THE GATES
The gates encircle the property,
Their sharp edges pointing to the sky.
They deter all visitors,
Keeping the evil inside.
The house holds many secrets,
Some strange and unbelievable.
Windows are eyes to the soul
And mirrors to the unknown.
End House has invited us,
Extending a fancy invitation.
Do we dare follow our curiosity,
Or listen to our pounding hearts?
We are here for the night.
Time will only tell.
Whether we make it to morning
In this unholy hell.

The stairs are slippery.

The lights flicker.

All goes dark.

The door behind us slams shut.

It’s locked.

There’s no place to go but down.

Down to the basement of End House.

The deserted house,

overlooking the crashing waves

of the Atlantic Ocean.

You can hear the waves hitting the house.

A pool of water covers the floor.

Are the ocean waters entering the house?

Are we in for more surprises?

What is that sound?

Creaking noises are coming from above.

Metal cages with pointy edges

are descending from above.

Circular saws soon follow,

searching for our heads.

What do we do now?

THE DEAD GAME has begun.

MY FAVORITE REVIEW

Absolutely Addicting!

The Dead Game by Susanne Leist

6476c-cover

I’ve had this book in my Kindle for a while but hadn’t gotten a chance to read until last weekend. My eyes stayed glued to the page even though I was fighting sleep I couldn’t put it down. Susanne Leist has a vivid and wild imagination!

Review
Susanne Leist debut novel The Dead Game is a gripping, terror filled read from the opening! Linda moves to the small, quaint ocean front town Oasis located along Northern Florida’s coastline. She paints a picturesque scene reminding me of Neptune Beach or any beach further North, I’m a North Florida resident, with the exception of the hill but it’s a book and anything can happen and in this fabulous read it does. As breathtaking as Oasis is the town is full of evil. Protagonist Linda opens a small bookstore and makes friends with all the other young adults in town. There is a distinct separation between the young and the older residents who live on the hill and have creepy green windows. All the young townsfolk are invited to a party at End House, the ultra creepy house at the end of the hill. The spooky fun and games begin here.

The Dead Game is filled with nonstop surprises that kept my toes curled. When I thought they had solved and ended one dilemma another popped up. Deadly twists and turns wreak havoc on the residents of Oasis as supernatural creatures play horrifying games.

Did I mention the vampires? I love supernatural reads and don’t want to read something that’s been done before. Susanne’s take on vampires is fresh and new but you’ll have to read to know. She takes the age old vampire legend and turns it into something I’ve never read before piquing my intrigue. I don’t believe in giving away spoilers but I will say this novel is left with a cliffhanger that has me hungering for a sequel.

Absolutely addicting!

5 STAR REVIEW OF THE DEAD GAME

2f605-book
May 16, 2015
If you moved to a new town, opened a business, and strange things started to happen- would you stay? The main character in the story decides to stay long after I myself would have left. I had to keep reading the book to find out why menacing events in the community were occurring with greater and greater frequency. The author, Susanne Leist, combines several genres to tell her murder mystery. The book is a fast read. There are lots of twists, turns, supernatural things happening, Vampire conflicts, there’s a love story, and too much more to list. The narrative is put together very nicely and the dialog is very entertaining. As I came to the end of the book I thought about the Fourth of July and the grand finale- things in the story kept coming at you at an unbelievable pace and just when you thought it was over, there was a new development. Well done. This book is a good read.
