THE DARK ALLEY

nature/vintage blog

I step from the restaurant

where there had been light.

Now there is only darkness,

and no stars in sight.

I hear footsteps in the distance.

Dark shadows move and sway.

Steps echo louder in the dark.

I bow my head and pray.

I run to the light.

Then I’m falling down.

My face to the ground.

My world, upside down.

I lift my head.

Black shoes before me.

The lights go out.

Darkness now claims me.

5 STAR REVIEW OF THE DEAD GAME

This review is from: The Dead Game (Paperback)
Usually I don’t like vampire stories, their trite and Susanne Leist’s “The Dead Game” is like a scavenger hunt with a twist of the board game “Clue”. Every character is like a chess piece and just when you think you’ve got checkmate, you realize the game isn’t over yet. Leist has added a refreshing twist with this with a lot of plot twists which prolongs the suspense aspect which keeps the intrigue intense. It’s like Hollywood story meets “The Munsters.” Starting with the haunted house deliberately leads the reader into a Pandora’s Box, creating a paradoxical effect that is most imaginative and rare. Very creative!

WALK IN SHADOW

undying-orchid:Row of Trees (1915) by Jan Mankes (Dutch, 1889—1920).

WALK IN SHADOW

Who waits in the dark?

Stalking its victims.

Blending with the night.

Walking in shadow.

Lighter than air.

One with the mist.

Never seen.

Never caught.

Leaving death behind.

Traces of evil.

Evil wrought on the town.

Who are you?

Come out in the light.

I know you can’t.

I know what you are.

Creature of the night.

Come to me.

And your time on earth will end.

For I protect the town.

I protect the innocent.

Come out of the shadows.

And face me.

All will know who you are.

The leader of The Dead.

Your time is at end.

THE VICTIM

nature/vintage blog

I step out from the restaurant.

From where there had been light.

Now there is darkness.

A dark alley.

Dark shadows move and sway.

I can hear my own footsteps.

Clicking on the cobblestones.

But there  are other footsteps.

Following close behind me.

Too close.

Lights shimmer up ahead.

I run toward them.

Then I’m down.

Face to ground.

The lights go out.

KNOCK KNOCK

2983 by peter holme iii

A house with personality,

Its own unique character,

Sitting on a rise of land.

Watching.

Waiting.

Maybe it isn’t the house,

who is watching and waiting,

but the character who lives inside.

Trick or treat.

BLOODY SUNRISE

The sun rises over the red water.

Red from the blood shed that night.

Bodies wash up on the shore.

Vestiges of the parties held that night.

Bloody footsteps mar the shoreline.

Left by The Dead walking at night.

How to end this devastation?

And end to The Dead who walk each night.
