I see him in my mind’s eye.
He is dead, and so am I.
He floats alone in the ocean.
We have taken the dark potion.
He drifts near,
Without fear.
I long to touch his face,
Not of the human race.
My spirit glides free.
And soon so shall he.
She stands at the window.
Age dares not to defy her.
Night bring her comfort.
Darkness, her only friend.
Her light flickers and fades.
She waits for you to come home.
Wherever you are,
Know that I’m with you.
My thoughts follow you.
I feel your pain
and relish in your joys.
I visit your dreams.
I’m beside you when you wake.
My spirit will keep you warm.
My arms will comfort you
in the dark days ahead.
Wherever you are,
I’ll be there.
Circe
I see him in my mind’s eye.
He is dead, and so am I.
He floats alone in the ocean.
We have taken the dark potion.
He drifts near
Without fear.
I long to touch his face,
Not of the human race.
My spirit glides free.
And soon so shall he.
Carl Gustav Carus (1789-1869) – Faust’s Dream
ARE WE ALONE?
Friends and family.
Are they with us?
I can feel them.
A thickness in the air.
A soft touch.
A slight breeze.
Is my brother gone,
Or is he still with me?
I feel him beside me.
He chuckles at my blunders.
Laughs at my jokes.
Cries when I’m hurt.
He is with me.
Always.
Forever.
Down I go
To the depths
Of my sadness.
I can’t go on.
I must rest.
Replenish my spirit.
Revitalize my soul.
I can turn around.
Go back up.
Try once more
To live my life.
First I will sleep.
You can bury me.
Place in me in a deep grave.
Throw dirt on me
And walk away.
But I will survive.
I will dig my way free.
I will be back.
The human spirit cannot
be extinguished.
It will continue to shine
despite evil’s attempts
to destroy it.
It will shine forever more.
