THE VELVET ROOM

THE VELVET ROOM

I enter the room of blood-red walls.

I pass the velvet furniture

and step in front of the mirror.

The lamps on either side flicker.

The glass turns foggy

until I can’t see my face.

Mist swirls around my features

like snakes roaming a corpse.

The fireplace at my feet sparks.

Heat suffuses my body,

beginning at my feet.

The fog clears in the mirror.

The face doesn’t belong to me.

An old woman’s face.

She has my features and eyes,

but she’s wrinkled and bony.

A smile lifts the corners of her mouth.

I touch my mouth.

I’m not smiling.

An arm in the mirror

wraps around her scrawny neck.

A snap.

Her head tilts at a strange angle.

Lifeless stare past me.

A hand touches my shoulder.

I scream and run from the room.

Laughter follows me from the house.

I will never return.

Color My World

Color my world in shades of pink,

so long as I don’t have to think.

Brush more color in strokes of blue,

so I don’t have to think of you.

Add a mist of dark green

until I’m ready to scream.

Throw more colors at me,

but I know what I’ll see.

A world faded to black

until I get you back.

A FOREST SO GREEN

Let’s travel through the forest so green.

A creature-filled oasis but don’t scream.

The roots tangle around our feet.

Walking becomes a scary feat.

Neon leaves hit our faces.

A hit every few paces.

I’m sinking deep into the forest floor.

Quicksand my enemy forever more.

THE DEAD GAME–A SUPERNATURAL THRILLER

THE DEAD GAME--A SUPERNATURAL THRILLER

As Admin of the Blood Moon Social Club on FB I know a little of Scary Fun. Typically, a mystery story opens with a slow build up until someone finds a body or witnesses a murder. A supernatural thriller will begin with the protagonist discovering a strange darkness creeping into their quaint village. BORING! Done to death thank you.
Dead Game is a mysterious supernatural thriller that blows the cover off with evil in full bloom right from the very first page. Life’s to short to wade through chapters of suspense building weather changing mood swings. It’s lovely to read a story that starts off with a rush to the top of the roller coaster. Followed by the stomach wrenching drop right before you swoop to the top of the loop and hang upside down screaming.
