SIT ALONE IN THE DARK

ALONE IN THE DARK
“I sit alone by the table.
I hear voices around me.
Sounds of movement.
Sounds of life.
I reach out.
I can feel the smoothness.
A plate.
A meal.
Smells waft by my nose.
Aromas of chicken.

“I sit alone in the dark.

Sounds of life.

I reach out.
I can feel the smoothness.
A plate.
A meal.

Smells waft by my nose.
Aromas of chicken.
Sweet smells of pudding.
Smells of life.

What color is the food?
Is the sun shining in?
Are the faces around me young or old?
So many questions.

Questions I can’t answer.
I can never answer.
For I am blind,
Have been blind for years.”

The anguish my mother faced
For most of her life.
Her sight stolen from her
At a young age.

Loss of sight.
Loss of colors.
Loss of faces.
Loss of memories.

NOTE:
These are the most random Qs I could find and come up with, but it is to show readers how authors are just like them or maybe so different that they are their own species. I have several awesome authors already lined up, but don’t let it scare you to take part though. I’ll be sharing with you all; the answers to the set questions and introduce you to some awesome people, and later, all of this will be used in a statistical type blog. Hopefully, we can keep this going for as long as possible and gain as many author’s inputs to make this thing grow.

But it doesn’t stop there:
~If you are an author who is interested in taking part in this silly game of mine; message, email or find me on a social network.
~If you are a reader and wanna take part; do the same and become part of the fun. (It’ll be really cool to have your stats as well.)
~If you are none of the above…ag, shame. Anyway, if you are an artist, a doctor, a barista or just randomly ended up here; bring it on and we can have a little fun when the stats have grown.

Morning person or night owl?
I am definitely a night owl. I find myself awake until 3:00 morning, writing and reviewing. I love the quiet.

Coffee, tea or neither?
I’m an avid coffee drinker. I average about 3 cups a day.

EBooks or printed books?
I love the printed book. I love holding it in my hands. Breathing in its unique smell. Give me a paperback any day over an ebook.

Bookmark or dog-ear pages?
I always bookmark even if I don’t intend to keep the book. I want it looking pristine and clean for the next reader.

Extrovert or Introvert?
I’m an introvert. A watcher of people and human nature. I search out people’s eyes. The truth lies in the eyes.

Secret talents? If so, what are they?
I perform best under pressure. I can make the important and difficult decisions when needed.

If you had a superpower, what would it be?
I would love to live forever like a vampire. To live through the centuries.

What is your biggest fear?
My biggest fear is dying.

You have three wishes, what are they?
1. Health and happiness for my family, including my animals.
2. I would love to be a best selling author.
3. To be remembered with fondness when I’m gone.

If you could forever break one habit, what would it be?
I love to shop. Handbags are my biggest weakness. But I don’t really want to break this habit.

Your favourite:
Colour – Purple
Animal – Maltese dog
Mythical Creature – Vampire
Author – Brad Meltzer

Beverage (Alcoholic and/or Non-Alcoholic) – Coffee

Shyness – Turn on
Quiet Places – Love
Loud Places – Sometimes, not usually.
Dimples – Adorable

What is your motto?
“If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.”

THE ROAD TO NOWHERE

THE ROAD TO NOWHERE

Life takes us on a ride.

A path with no guide.

A ride for no rhyme or reason.

A circle with no side.

A path deep into the jungle.

People passing along the way.

Traps to trip us up.

Lurking demons held at bay.

The end leaves us with more questions.

Not answered along the way.

A destination with no purpose.

No clarification for our stay.

OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN — THE DEAD GAME — PART 15

A dark tunnel leading to nothingness.
Its entrance cleverly concealed
By our town.
Once entered,
There’s no going back.

A town,
Where time stands still,
Where time listens to no one.
Its will drives us on.

Where is the secret entrance?
Beyond which door?
Could be the door to End House.
Or maybe the door of the villagers.

A strange door the villagers have.
A door that opens to any fantasy.
Controlled by whom?
By the village sheriff.
But who really owns this door?

Questions race around Linda’s mind.
Round and round they go.
Should she search for the door?
Will it provide her answers?

Shadows cast by the trees
Tower over her.
The forest takes on a grim look.
Its features darkening and lengthening.

She should leave right now
While there’s still some light.
But she must find the door.
The door will answer all.

A twig snaps.
Leaves blow in a circle.
The circle tightens
And so does Linda’s throat.

Is reality on the inside or the outside?

Are we in a drab room,

looking out at the sunset?

Or we standing outside by the water

with a fake room around us?

If we try to leave the room,

will a door shut us in or will

we be able to walk outside?

Where do we want to be?

The room offers shelter and comfort,

while the outside offers adventure and freedom.

Once we know the answer to this question, then

we will know if the walls will lift away for us.
