A NIP IN THE AIR

A nip in the air.

A chill in my bones.

The Dead will be here.

And in our own homes.

Palm trees will shiver.

The whole ground will quake.

Up from the river.

Or the nearest lake.

Take me far away.

From this creepy place.

Let us run and pray.

Make an about face.

THE DEAD GAME by Susanne Leist

STOP!

Stop!

Go no farther.

Oasis lies ahead.

A town of mystery.

Disappearances.

Unsolved murders.

Amidst the palm trees

and isolated beaches,

lies an evil so deadly

that the undead are afraid.

Turn around.

Go home.

Before The Dead see you.

RUN FOR SHELTER

Run for shelter.

Take cover.

Our picnic is over.

The storm is coming closer.

The waves are growing taller.

The palm trees are waving their branches.

The weather was perfect.

Now the heavens have opened.

Lightning is flashing across the sky.

Followed by loud rumblings of thunder.

We must we get to the Town Hall in time.

Those are rooftops flying over our heads.

What else can happen?

Find out in THE DEAD GAME.

A DAY IN OASIS, FLORIDA

A sea breeze to soothe my aching soul.

Palm trees to fan my hot body.

Cold water caressing my toes.

White sand flowing through my fingers.

A day in Oasis, Florida.

A day at the beach.

ON THE EDGE

Source:

Look through the palm trees.

Past the sanded beaches.

Beyond the swimming pools.

And you will see the truth.

Hear the raging winds.

Feel the spray of the tall waves.

Taste the salt in the air.

And you will know Oasis, Florida.

For what it really is.

A town living on the edge.

In fear of the nights.

Of the dark shadows.

RIDING THE WAVES

Photo: Whelan Works

The sky burns orange.

Winds whip up in a frenzy.

Waves rush in.

Arms reaching for the shore.

Birds flee the scene.

Palm trees bow their heads.

in prayer to The Dead and gone.

Who have returned to our town.

Riding the waves in their fury.

Coming in the dark of night.

After the sun lowers her face.

And the moon shines bright.

Say a prayer for us.

Oasis will never be the same.

INVITING

Inviting.

Serene.

Peaceful.

Waves lapping.

Sun shining.

Tourists frolicking.

Palm trees waving.

Until the night.

Oasis changes.

Shadows move.

Bodies appears.

Wind cries.

The Dead party.

In the night.

All night.

PARADISE LOST

Source:

A storm is brewing on the horizon.

Lightning shoots across the darkening sky.

Palm trees bow in the increasing winds.

The pink sand recedes in fear.

Waves become towering sheets of ice.

The Florida sun hides its face

Behind angry, grey clouds.

The Dead have come to play.

Paradise is lost and gone.

MY OWN OASIS

Source:

Does this place exist?

Is it an illusion?

I need palm trees.

My own oasis.

An escape from the world.

Empty of people.

I can see it.

Feel the hot sunshine.

Cold water on my toes.

A paradise so sweet.

Honey on my lips.

I’m there right now.

Don’t bother me.

DARK SHADOWS LEAVE NO FOOTPRINTS

Source:

An oasis where dreams come true.

Palm trees wave in the warm breeze.

Birds sing a happy tune of their own.

Until the night exhales its cold breath.

In torrents of wind across the sand.

Where dark shadows leave no footprints.

And tourists remain innocent no more.
