Title: The Dead Game
Author: Susanne Leist

The Book Fair is coming to the town of Oasis on the northern coast of Florida. A dead body washes ashore. The police search through the sand for clues. Where is Agatha Christie when you need her? Linda and her friends are afraid. Deaths and disappearances are happening too often in Oasis. Will they figure out who is controlling their small town? Who is playing the evil game, The Dead Game?

I’m a mystery lover. And so is my protagonist, Linda Bennett. She opens a bookstore in Oasis, hoping for fantasy and romance. Instead, she finds herself living in a community filled with secrets. The forest behind town wakes up at night with parties and strange guests. Are the original residents, living in the dark woods, responsible for the deaths and disappearances? Only The Dead know.

TO BE OR NOT TO BE

books-and-more-books

TO BE OR NOT TO BE

To be or not to be a writer.
This has been the hardest question for me.
Should I continue with my pursuit?
Or step away and claim defeat?
One book written.
One book sold.
It dances around on Amazon and Nook.
It reaches new heights in its niche
And then it slowly bows its head in silence.
The highs feel good and lofty,
While the lows feel depressing and sad.
Is it worth it?
Is it worth the aggravation?
I am told that a writer must keep writing.
More books to dance around.
More highs and lows.
Should I keep doing this?
Will I keep doing this?
Yes, for now
As I wait for the next high.

STAY AWAY

The woods belong to us.

Night is our playground.

Day becomes our night.

Stay far from our den.

Our members play rough.

The Dead want no visitors.

WHAT IS IT?

WHAT IS IT?
It moves like the mist.
It’s transparent like a cloud.
It comes in the night.
It brings with it a cold wind.
What could it be?
It is shadow.
It is darkness.
It is The Dead.
Welcome to Oasis, Florida.
Where The Dead own the night.
THE DEAD...

HOT FLAMES OF HAIL

The sky rumbles its pain.

The clouds shout out in vain.

The water bubbles hot.

It won’t forget you not.

Run from the hot flames of hail.

Try to hide to no avail.

Seek shelter from the storm.

This will be the new norm.

The Dead now run the town.

Chin up and dare not frown.

We must bow to their favor.

While we wait for our savior.

Review of THE DEAD GAME by Angel Sefer

I love this review!

Review of The Dead Game by Susanne Leist – an action-packed, heart-stopping thriller blended with supernatural elements

This review is from: The Dead Game (Kindle Edition)
If you like action-packed, heart-stopping thrillers blended with supernatural elements, then, this is the book for you. The author’s vivid imagination and her captivating way of narrating this unique story kept me reading way into the night—of course, with the lights on and ready to flee in case someone or…something jumped out of the pages like those creatures in the book, jumping out of the walls at End House.
I liked Linda Bennett, the heroine, and I’m in love with Todd, the hero. He has almost replaced Ian Somerhalder from The Vampire Diaries in my heart.
And what can I say about the ending? Wow!
I think this book would make a great movie.

Why I Write What I Write #17: Susanne Leist #WriteBitches

Susanne Leist is a fellow Brooklynite I bumped into after teaming with a bunch of authors for an epic Halloween book party we have planned. Luckily she’s nice enough to allow me to drag her way down deep to my neck of the woods and share with us why she writes what she writes.

BIO

I have always loved to read books. My goal has been to write a book different than any other book that I’ve read. And I believe I have accomplished this. The Dead Game has dead bodies and suspects like a traditional murder mystery. However, it also has humans, vampires, and vampire derivatives. It has plenty of romance and thrills. And don’t forget the haunted house–we must have one of these.
