RISING FROM THE DEEP

The night caters to our whims.

It follows our deadly sins.

Our darkest nightmares come alive.

We’ll do anything to survive.

Monsters stalk us in our sleep.

Creatures rising from the deep.

It creaks open the bedroom door.

I see it move across the floor.

My head turns to accept my doom.

I am one of them all too soon.

DARK ARE THE STREETS

Altamura (Apulia, Italy) by Dauno Settantatre

Dark are the streets

By which they creep.

Silence is their goal.

Through the town, they go.

Bodies left behind,

Blood-dry we will find.

Church bells are tolling,

And heads are rolling.

Flee from this we must

Before we are dust.

Who sits on my shelf

each night?

Who casts shadows

on my bedroom wall?

I move closer.

I must see what it is.

The head moves.

Its hood falls back.

A doll’s face appears.

A yellow glow

in the darkness.

Red eyes turn to me.

Burning a hole

through my heart.

The Battle for Oasis

Let the darkness lull me to sleep,
with dreams of red sunsets.
Clouds drifting on cotton balls,
encircling me with their softness.

Let the moon’s face shine on me,

making me feel safe and secure.
The stars twinkle in merriment,
ready to tackle the night.

The day brings a new enemy

to our peaceful shore.
A dark kingdom will rise up,
a new kingdom for The Dead.

A hooded figure approaches me,
his gait slow and sure.
He slowly pulls back his hood
to reveal the creature beneath.

“You have waited for me, dear one.
I will have my ice princess at my side.”
Wolf quickens his stride to reach me,
But I turn my face away.

I peek through my eyelashes

At his beautiful face.
He abruptly turns around

To summon his army.
Over his shoulder he whispers,
“I’m so sorry you will
fall in battle like the others.
Goodbye, my ice princess.”
What form will Wolf take on in book 2?
You will soon find out.

THE DEAD GAME — DAY 167

bats

Linda was hanging over the pool filled with alligators. Todd was faced with Maxell, a new creature intent on killing him and his friends. Todd wasn’t going to allow Maxell to kill his beloved, Linda.

Maxell spun around and gawked at Wolf. “How could you possibly be alive? You died in the alligator pool.”

“Who told you that, your grandmother? Do you believe your grandmother or your own father?”

“Are you trying to tell me that you’re my father? My father died when I was born,” Maxell said.

“No, I didn’t. I left your mother. She made up the whole story to hide the truth.”

     “Prove it!”

Wolf hesitated for a brief moment and then said, “Your mother has always been extremely organized and kept very strict schedules. She was dreadfully difficult to live with.”

“Yes! She was too strict! She never let me be me! I wanted to be free from her.”

“Be free now! Come with me! We could go away together and start a new life,” Wolf said, walking closer to her.

Maxell began to walk toward Wolf. Then Wolf disappeared, leaving Maxell standing alone in the middle of the alligator pool. She fell to her death, looking up at Todd, who smiled down at her.

Reece opened the glass dome right before she hit the water. She sizzled and burned from the dazzling sunlight—all the while knowing that she’d been tricked by an apparition created by a weak and spineless human vampire.

“Stupid, stupid vampire,” Mike said, shaking his head.

at the edge of the beach.

They only come out at night.

Parties are held at their

remote estates, only after dark.

Who are these people?

Are they people?

Come and play THE DEAD GAME

HELL BENT

Daisies can appear happy,

lifting their faces to the bright sun.

A circle of color around

their dark faces.

Blowing in the breeze, while

sharing their soft fragrance.

But what if a field of daisies was to turn deadly?

Stampeding their poor victim to death.

Could this possibly happen?

It can if you happen to live in Oasis, Florida.

The Dead can hide in mysterious places.
