OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN — THE DEAD GAME — PART 38

What happened to the colorful flowers?
Have they fled town with the cowardly sun?
In the encroaching darkness,
Only red stands out in its many costumes.

Red is the color of the falls behind town,
Where pink taffeta shields its cold fingers.
Red is the color of windows of End House,
Hiding the horrors waiting inside.

With its dying embers the sun bleeds red,
Packing its bags for a final goodbye.
Its tears mark the white sand with red gashes,
Tracking its sad journey into the unknown.

Red are the eyes of the great Wolf,
Watching the town prepare for him.
He keeps his distance until all is ready,
Until all are ready to accept him as ruler.

Gone are the joyous times of parties.
Gone are the sounds of laughter and giggles.
Now comes the time of battles to be fought,
Allies to be made, and enemies to be killed.

Wolf has brought this upon Oasis,
A town content to live in the light of the sun,
Happy to be human and alive.
It is too late to go back.

Time moves on.
And so do The Dead.
Once Oasis is conquered,
The world will be next.

Who will stop them?
Who can stop them?
Linda wants to know.
She needs to know.

Time will only tell.
The stage is set.
The die is cast.
All that’s left for us
To do is wait.

THE DEAD GAME

WELCOME

darkestdee:

WELCOME

A hand beckons.
The gate opens.
A wind swirls around us.
The air feels alive.
Should we enter?
A mysterious invitation.
To a secret party.I feel my body being pushed forward.
We have no choice.
An invisible hand propels us.
To do its bidding.

We’re here.
What now?
Do we meet our elusive host?
It’s dark in this house.
With only a few candles for light.
There doesn’t seem to be a party.

Too late.
The door slams shut behind us.
I can hear it being locked and bolted.
We’re stuck for now.
In this house of horrors.

THE DEAD GAME has begun.

WALK IN SHADOW

undying-orchid:

Row of Trees (1915) by Jan Mankes (Dutch, 1889—1920).

WALK IN SHADOW

Who waits in the dark?

Stalking its victims.

Blending with the night.

Walking in shadow.

Lighter than air.

One with the mist.

Never seen.

Never caught.

Leaving death behind.

Traces of evil.

Evil wrought on the town.

Who are you?

Come out in the light.

I know you can’t.

I know what you are.

Creature of the night.

Come to me.

And your time on earth will end.

For I protect the town.

I protect the innocent.

Come out of the shadows.

And face me.

All will know who you are.

The leader of The Dead.

Your time is at end.

A SOLEMN PROMISE

World Trade Center

The skyline looks clear.

I can see all the buildings.

Then one day comes and

ruins all days to come.

Intruders invade our space

and destroy our twin towers.

The towers that we love.

Towers that we grew up with.

Towers that we’ve worked in.

Goodbye to my precious towers,

holding the innocents of the day.

Goodbye to all.

Never again will our skyline be blotted.

It will remain clear and free forever more.

A solemn promise.

What is at the edge of this cliff?

Does a house sit there?

Does it hang over the sharp rocks that are

being pummeled by the ocean’s relentless waves?

Yes, there is a house.

It stands alone with no neighbors nearby.

It is called End House.

It has a long history of  disappearances

and unusual occurrences;

events that take place in the dead of night.

Tonight, there is a special party being thrown

for the new residents of Oasis—at End House.

As they drive up to the house, the winds pick

up speed and begin to howl.

They begin to regret their decision to

attend this mysterious party,

thrown by an unnamed host.

Should they enter this house?

With much trepidation, they walk in

and find it be deserted.

Or so they think.
