Lady of the night.
So sad.
Drifting through time.
Lost.
Waiting.
Watching.
Alone.
Forever.
Lady of the night.
So sad.
Drifting through time.
Lost.
Waiting.
Watching.
Alone.
Forever.
The castle sits in the woods,
its walls filled with memories.
Sounds of laughter and music
float in the still air.
Whisps of smoke hover
between the trees.
A soft shadow in the wind
settles beside me.
A tap on my shoulder.
A sigh in my ear.
I know who it is.
Goodbye, my love.
We’ll be together again soon.
Creepy, creepy, scary.
This can become hairy.
The house is haunted and dark.
I came on a simple lark.
But now that I’m here,
I’m frozen with fear.
A party is to be held for us all,
But to evil creatures, we might just fall.
Down to the basement we go,
This is silly even I know.
Saws are swinging up ahead,
Looking to chop off a head.
Traps are falling from the low ceiling.
My wet feet are losing their feeling.
We are standing in a pool.
And I feel like a big fool.
We should have gone when we had a chance.
The creatures will make us sing and dance.
The Dead have a morbid sense of humor,
Should have listened to every rumor.
Goodbye to one and all.
I see the bouncing ball.
THE DEAD GAME
Sadness follows me
wherever I go.
It haunts me
in all its forms.
There’s no escape
from its long arms.
I close my eyes
but feel its long shadow.
A path through the forest,
covered with fallen trees and tangled shrubbery.
Bushes shake.
Animals scurry into hiding.
Leaves fall.
Birds flee.
I must find my way home.
Darkness envelopes the path.
I can’t move.
Vines twirl around my feet.
I’m trapped.
The forest has taken me.
The hallway waits.
It beckons.
A green light shows the way.
Closed doors on either side.
Cries fill the air.
A coldness descends.
Then total silence.
I inch forward.
I peer into a room.
A wheelchair sits empty.
Voices.
I step into the hallway
and follow the sounds.
The door at the end stands open.
Surgeons stand around a table.
They turn and smile at me.
They fade from sight.
Then I’m on the table.
Doctors stand above me.
I must escape.
A scalpel descends.
Too late.
The stairs lead us to the basement.
Circular saws rotate above our heads.
Traps with pointy edges dangle close.
The door locks behinds us.
Water reaches our ankles.
Three doors appear on the opposite wall.
Will we make it across the water?
Will we ever see the light of day?
The house is winning the deadly game.
