BLACKNESS

Blackness beckons.

Floating in green.

Cocooned in coldness.

Fingers grab me.

Teeth rip at me.

Fish beside me.

THE DEAD  below me.

A cold hell for me.

DOWN DEEP

Swallow me cold.

Your frozen hold.

Take me down deep.

Over two feet.

I don’t need air.

Fish in my hair.

The sea keeps me.

Until I’m free.

My time is night.

When I take flight.

THE LAST WAVE

sunset wave

THE LAST WAVE

It’s coming.

Coming closer.

It’s here.

The big wave.

I’ve been waiting all day.

In over my head.

My feet are lifting.

Being swept away.

The swell is taking me.

Holding me close.

I can’t move.

I can’t swim.

Head is going under.

Silence.

Rocks.

Fish.

Time slows down.

The last wave.

A WALK

Let’s take a walk.

Down the path

covered in flowers.

Down the stairs

to the beach.

Can you feel the ocean breeze?

Can you smell the flowers?

The sun rides high in the sky.

My mood is riding as high.

Let’s not stop.

Let’s keep walking.

Fishermen are bringing in their catch.

Seagulls circle around them.

Searching for any scraps of fish.

Can you smell the fish?

A unique aroma.

Let’s sit down and

watch the waves,

lapping at the shore.

At this moment,

life feels perfect.

Life is perfect.

THE PERFECT PLACE

I found the place to relax and read!

The perfect place to relax and read.

The perfect place to write.

I will close my eyes.

Listen to the water lapping at the windows.

Feel the motion of the waves.

Watch the fish swim by.

Safe inside my clear cocoon.

Lulling me to sleep.

Dreams filling my mind.

At rest.

At peace.

Perfect.

LET’S TAKE A WALK

Let’s take a walk.
Down the path
covered in flowers.
Down the stairs
to the beach.
Can you feel the ocean breeze?
Can you smell the flowers?
The sun rides high in the sky.
My mood is riding as high.
Let’s not stop.
Let’s keep walking.
Fisherman are bringing in their catch.
Seagulls circle around.
Searching for scraps of fish.
Can you smell the fish?
A unique aroma.
Let’s sit down and
watch the waves,
lapping at the shore.
At this moment,
life feels perfect.
Life is perfect.

OCEAN DEEP

OCEAN DEEP
Cover me with your cold arms,
A baby blanket of softness.
Take me down under your waves,
Where the world glows a bluish green.
Life swirls by in colors of the rainbow,
Filled with creatures swimming free.
A harmony of constant movement,
Following the slow tempo of the deep.

THE DEAD GAME — AN ISLAND ESCAPE

Take me away from a world without color,
A world where life is dull and grey.
I want to swim through the ocean’s waves,
Where rainbows can frolic and play.

The sun’s rays shimmer off the water,
Leaving trails of gold, yellow, and red.
Beacons of light for me to follow,
To a new land where to lay my head.

I fly through the rolling waves,
Touching down on a spot of land.
I am lifted by arms of fountains
And laid to rest on the pink sand.

Turtles scurry away from my hand.
Birds fly around as they have fun.
The waves recede in their farewell dance,
Leaving me alone in the sun.

Who lives on this small island?
It’s time for me to explore.
A hut of branches in a tree.
I must see if there is more.

The steps are pretty steep,
I climb and step inside.
The room is small and dark.
Who knows what it may hide?

I hear footsteps from the room beyond.
They’re coming closer to where I hide.
It’s too late to run for the door,
I must face whoever is inside.

Todd saunters into the room.
Candles and two places set.
He throws me a big grin,
As if I am his prized pet.

We both wait in silence.
Todd slowly moves toward me.
“I hope you like my surprise.”
I feel as cold as can be.

I don’t like surprises.
Especially from him.
He keeps me at arms length,
Not letting me in.

I lower my eyes
From the fire in his eyes.
They’re consuming me alive,
I’m burning up from his lies.

Todd makes an abrupt movement.
He strides across the room.
He kisses me with great passion
Under the blood red moon.
