MOONLIT FOREST

“Walk with me through the moonlit forest.
Let our feet graze the tips of the grass,
never touching down,
held aloft by our love and passion.

Follow me through the endless night
to a land where no man walks.
Only creatures as dark as the sky
dare to venture forth alone.

Love has no bounds or shackles.
We will be free to display our passion,
without retribution from humanity
as long as you remain mine.

Come with me, my ice princess.
Step away from the burning plains,
where the heat burns your soles
and love is hampered by the living.”

Wolf holds his hand out for me.
The words flow from him.
His lips never utter a sound,
but his meaning as clear as can be.

We can be together forever more.
But the other has followed us to the clearing.
He will try to take me back
and never give up his hold on me.

His eyes burn red with passion.
Fire follows close on his footsteps,
scorching a trail through the grass,
melting his enemy’s cold trail.

They face each other.
Hot and cold from opposite poles,
dueling until the end of time
as they fight to the death.

Our games have just begun.

The setting sun brings an end to

a day of rainbows and soft wishes.

The moon waits

in the wings for its turn.

The twinkling stars hover nearby,

ready to follow its leader into the darkness.

The sky lowers its head in acceptance of the daily switch,

torn between the two heavenly delights.

THE DUEL

The setting sun brings darkness on its tail.

It closes the bright day of dreams and wishes.

It brings to an end the warmth of its rays.

The moon waits in the wings for its turn.

Its romp in the sky is accompanied by stars.

Twinkling lights to fill the darkening sky.

The sky is torn between the two heavenly delights.

It lowers its head in acceptance of the daily switch.

Even it cannot fight the dueling forces of nature.

OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN — THE DEAD GAME — PART 23

A duel to end all duels.
A battle to the death.
The winds raise the waves
To heights of ecstasy.

They tease the shore
With their pounding fury.
The sand reduced to dust
From their unrelenting force.

I’m torn in half,
Tempted by the ice storm,
Where cold flesh brings passion,
And games are the rule of the day.

Heat still flows through my veins,
Drawing me back to the light,
Where human flesh brings love
And easement from the storm.

Wolf rises from the water,
His body melting in droplets.
He exists no more.
He has lost the battle.

How could have I not known?
How could I have forgotten?
The cold waits no more for me.
Emptiness fills the void inside.

I can still hear his voice,
Feel his presence in the wind.
His icy fury slices into the shore,
Calling for me to join him.

Our games have just begun.
