This is life.
The choice set before us.
The sun or the dark of night.
Optimism or pessimism.
Good or evil.
The darkness taunts us.
It’s too easy to succumb to it.
Fight the greedy devil.
The choice is yours to make.
He has come for me.
I’ll never be free.
He comes this night.
Fear at first sight.
He claims his love.
But he’s no dove.
He’s evil as can be.
Always searching for me.
I must hide until morning.
Or the town will be mourning.
The devil hides his face.
I know his deadly pace.
His footsteps ring hollow.
Steps quicken to follow.
He sings a sweet song.
I know I’m not wrong.
The devil is right behind me.
Even though his face I can’t see.
He has me in his grasp.
I cry out with a gasp.
He kisses me with passion.
I know this is his fashion.
To take what is not his.
And make me only his.

They come in the night.
Take all with their might.
A town scared to death.
From their deadly breath.
I watch the town fall.
Come one and come all.

Trapped in this doll.
My soul yearning to be free.
Unable to move.
Cannot speak.
The Dead put me here.
As punishment for my sins.
But it is they who have sinned.
Who have taken life from the living.
Who’ve roamed the earth seeking blood.
Please help me.
Please help me avenge the innocents.
Please set me free.

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
Should I walk into the woods?
It beckons to me in my dreams.
In my nightmares.
I know what waits for me.
A house holding evil inside.
Evil in its walls.
Below its stairs.
He waits for me to join him.
He plays games with our lives.
He plays for keeps.
I will go now.
To free my friends.
To face the devil.

THE DEAD GAME BY SUSANNE LEIST
IN THE BEGINNING
The town of Oasis is plagued by dark shadows. Shana and her friends plan their own line of defense. They believe Wolf is responsible for the deaths and disappearances in town.
Shana’s friends sit around her table in the back room of her mystical store with the lights off and the front door securely locked. A small candle on the table provides the only light in the room. Shadows on the walls sway back and forth with the motion of the flickering flame. Each time the shadows move, Shana jumps a little inside, remembering the dark figures that have been stalking her.
Despite the fear racing through her icy veins, she says to the others, “We must confront Wolf on our own. “
