The puddles lead me
down a path
through the trees
into the deserted forest
where no man dares to tread.
The puddles lead me
down a path
through the trees
into the deserted forest
where no man dares to tread.
Teeth glisten in the dark
as I walk through the park.
I stop in my tracks in fear,
not knowing what can be near.
I stand quietly and listen,
but I only see the glisten.
Soft footsteps ring out behind me.
I’m not waiting around to see.
Then I happen to glance down,
and my face droops in a frown.
The fanged smile floats on the lily pond.
Of my reflection, I’m not so fond.
It reveals the darkness inside
that I’ve always failed to hide.
The green hides inside
With unspoken pride.
It comes at night,
Growing in might.
A fine mist falls first
As trees drink from thirst.
They swallow the green whole
By forming a deep hole.
As the fairies alight on leaves,
I need out of here, pretty please.
THE DARK FOREST
Come and visit us.
Follow the path.
Where does it lead?
Deep into a forest.
Down a dark road.
Ignore the moans.
The howls from a pack of wolves.
They love people.
It’s safe.
Don’t look back.
Face forward.
Soon you’ll be there.
Be prepared for anything.
Don’t be afraid.
End House is waiting for you.
And so are The Dead.

Demonic (2015)
Light the dark path.
Through the dense woods.
To the house on the edge.
Where many have gone.
Follow the puffs of smoke.
Through the rocks and brush.
To the end of the trail.
Where many have gone.

SHADOWS IN THE WOODS
The full moon casts its harsh light,
Spotlights to the left and right.
Shadows drift in the trees.
Some even on their knees.
On the shallow lake,
they cast their cold gaze.
Reflections of bones
Flicker in the haze.
While the small town sleeps,
They walk the dark streets.
They ready for their fight.
Their march a deadly sight.
Soft snores won’t deter them.
Children’s cries won’t halt them.
From the woods, they have come.
They will return as one.

BLOOD MOON
The moon is a foreshadow
of things to come,
frightening things,
unhappy things.
Its red glow creeps through trees
to the remote town,
where all are asleep,
feeling safe in their beds.
Creep, Creep, Creep,
the red mist spreads,
down the streets
and into the homes.
The fog solidifies,
forming dark shadows.
Shadows of the night
that have come to play.

The Dogfather 🌹
I’m a man.
No a wolf.
I have feelings.
I roam the night.
I hunger for her.
I walk on all four.
I need her love.
I yearn for freedom.
I am man.
I will win her love.
Tonight.

Untitled by Joe Kennett.
KILL ME
A walk through the woods
on a sunny afternoon.
The sun soon retreats
to be replaced by dark shadows.
Sighs fill the silence.
The tall trees lift their roots.
Trunks become faces,
branches reaching arms.
Shivering leaves fall in fear.
The giants move forward.
Just kill me now.
THE DEAD GAME
Soaring.
Towering.
Blocking the light.
Creatures of might.
Lovers of night.
Holding hands.
Brushing shoulders.
Brothers until the end.
