Beautiful rose,
Soft and velvety.
Protected by sharp thorns,
Sharp to the touch.
Bright in the sunshine;
Dark in the moonlight.
A two-faced wonder.
Beautiful rose.
Soft and velvety.
Protected by sharp thorns.
Bright in the sunshine.
Dark in the moonlight.
A two-faced wonder.
Add a little color to the picture.
It won’t need to be still as a fixture.
Add some flowers and some fun
Until the picture is done.
Black and white might be good for some.
I enjoy yellow like the sun.
Other colors might work as well
And make the picture look as swell.
The painting could use strokes of brightness.
It doesn’t need to dwell in such darkness.
Take a step back to see your masterpiece.
It will bring you much contentment and peace.
Am I welcome to dinner?
I feel mighty hungry.
Like I’m skin and bones.
Or just bones.
May I come in?
I won’t bother anyone.
You won’t even notice me.
Step through the doorway.
What will you find?
Will you find a better world?
A world full of fantasies.
A world of colors.
What do you want to find?
It’s all within your reach,
as close as your imagination.
Bela Lugosi recites some Poe in The Raven (1935).
The raven sits quietly while Lugosi reads the lines.
It sits as still as a lifeless statue.
But what if it isn’t lifeless?
What if it’s just waiting?
Waiting for the actor
to stop droning on.
For the room to become quiet
so that he could pounce on him.
The way he was supposed to
in The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe.
He must perform for his namesake.
The world could use one less actor.
Couldn’t it?
Swoosh…

Open your petals to the sky
and show us your beauty.
A beauty created from within.
A beauty that doesn’t require
bright colors to showcase its art.
A glow clearly reflected in any surrounding.
It can’t be extinguished nor copied.
Shine on pretty flower.
